The Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre building has been designed and constructed to surpass the national energy code and has been recognized by Natural Resources Canada as exceeding their standards for energy efficiency. Among the design features are: high thermal properties of the envelope (roof, walls, foundation, windows and doors), heating and cooling via air source heat pumps and high efficiency boilers, heat recovery ventilation, a heat pump domestic hot water tank, low watt lighting controlled by timers and photo sensors and low water consuming fixtures. The following design and construction team contributed to this achievement:
As part of Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre's ongoing commitment to the environment, all appliances are rated energy star, radiology processing is chemical-free and paper use is reduced to a minimum with paperless medical records. A recycling program is in place and indoor air quality made a priority with the use of ultraviolet / catalyst air filters and an active anaesthetic scavenging system.
We would like to thank the many people who are helping us to achieve our environmental commitment.
