When you are visiting our clinic you may on occasion notice a name tag that says "Veterinary Student". Every summer, Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre hires veterinary students (enroute to acquiring their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from across Canada to learn more about the practice of veterinary medicine and gain hands on experience in the clinic. Our clinic also helps veterinary technician students complete their practical training requirements for graduation. We provide an excellent learning atmosphere for students and work with the students closely to document their progression in veterinary skills and knowledge throughout their stay with us.
Bright eyed, keen and eager to learn, students bring a positive energy with them which is contagious throughout the clinic and provides a great opportunity for our veterinary team to share their knowledge and contribute to a student's education. Since students have just been immersed in University environments, they bring along cutting edge veterinary knowledge and information, helping us to be aware of the latest advances in veterinary medicine.
Every veterinary professional recalls yearning for some practical application during preclinical studies. We especially appreciated when our mentors took the time to give us that opportunity to gain hands-on experience and show us the way. We are in debt to these individuals. Mentoring students at our clinic gives us an opportunity to give back to the veterinary profession and to the community at large and we are very proud to contribute to such a wonderful profession. The field of veterinary medicine is exciting and challenging and as a clinic, one of our goals is to help promote this field and provide an excellent learning atmosphere for students. So if you have the chance to meet one of our students please help us to encourage this atmosphere of learning on their path to becoming the next generation of veterinary professionals.
